🏙️ About the Role
Urban flooding is emerging as a serious challenge in India’s rapidly growing cities. Poor drainage, unplanned urbanization, and extreme weather events frequently lead to disasters. NDMA is seeking a domain expert who can:

Develop national-level urban flood mitigation programmes

Coordinate with States, Municipal Bodies, IMD, MoHUA, and others

Set up early warning systems, risk monitoring, and urban flood databases
-
Prepare and implement community-based solutions
-
Lead technical publications, workshops, and training programs
📋 Key Responsibilities

Advise on region-specific flood risk reduction approaches

Develop strategies involving early warning, preparedness, and mitigation

Support local governments in preparing urban flood management plans
-
Recommend technological solutions and GIS-backed data tools

Monitor and report progress regularly
🎓 Eligibility Criteria
Essential Qualifications:

Master’s in Water Resources / Hydrology / Urban Planning / Disaster Management / Civil or Geotechnical Engineering / Environment / Geography / Geology / Architecture
Desirable:
-
M.Phil./Ph.D. in relevant field
Experience:
-
Minimum 5 years post-qualification experience in urban flood or related field

Preference for field-based disaster risk reduction experience
-
Research work (PhD/M.Phil) is counted towards experience
Skills Required:

High-level communication & presentation skills

Proficiency in GIS, databases, and spreadsheets

Strategic thinking and ability to engage stakeholders

Consultancy Term: Initially 3 years (extendable up to 5 years)
